Tonight the works are going to hang! I'm so excited to share this with everyone. Thank you to Chloe and Steph for putting together An Art Gig for the Punk Connoisseur. If you are able, bringing some spare spending money would be a good idea. There will be many tables slanging goods from local and inspiring artists of the Orange County punk scene.
Thank you to all of my supportive friends who have helped me with this project! This would not exist without you.

"An Art Gig for the Punk Connoisseur" Next week!
Wow, I am really excited to debut a new series I have been working on next week. One of my best friends is co-organizing an event at TABLE 87, an all ages venue in Santa Ana. Titled, "An Art Gig for the Punk Connoisseur," this will explore the OC punk scene by way of art, live music, and communities. I have been lucky enough to show some work, and this inspired me to work on a new set of work to display.
When thinking about punk in Orange County, I instantly think of my close friends who were also in the scene. I thought about how their presence and character has made such a profound impact on who I am today. To me, that is what punk is, and I am endlessly grateful for having the privilege of finding a scene so supportive, creative, and aware. I have often wondered what my life would be like if I never learned about Food Not Bombs, or if I have never been exposed to zines, dumpsters, and a more liberated culture in my youth.
I took this upcoming art show as a chance to reflect on as much as I could, all the while recognizing the music that was the soundtrack to it all. As a result, I felt compelled to re-capture that raw energy, that 'new' feeling of discovering something so special, something so gripping, something that finally made sense in a society that can be hard to relate to. That was definitely how I felt when I first discovered 'punk' and as I get older, I don't want to forget that energy.
I asked my closest friends that I've made through the punk community to share an album that has been heavy and influential to who they are today. In a sense, I wanted to create a dialogue and buzz that made each participant think about the same feeling I am trying to explore.
I want to create portraits of each person overlaid on the album of their choice. I plan to do this with plexiglass and hand crafted art boards. So far, I have all the study sketches, notes, and materials I need. I am quite thrilled to hang this series on January 31st to share.
I will also be tabling with others, vending our goods. I'll have zines, buttons, pillows, and a box of vintage clothes on the cheap. Cash/Credit/Trades accepted!
